Hornady powder

It would be awesome if Hornady manufactured powder for reloaders at a fair price. Whatever they load in the "black" lineup is excellent in 6.5 creedmoor and grendel.
The Creedmoor ammo used to have the load info on the packet. Can't remember what it was though - but an available powder =maybe 760?

I think back when they did that it was H4350.
Yep.....It was right on the box. I bought a full case of it in it's infancy
so I could shoot short steel match's then have the cases to reload.
The originals from Hornady were pooch loads. They just barely made
2700 fps. The originals were A-Max bullets, and not the latter ELD's.
Somewhere in the fray, there was conversation of tips melting, and why
the low velocities. Never got the full story on what was true or false.
Next lots, the new ELDs replaced the A-Max's and load data was not
printed on the boxes. However, they were still pooch loads......Go figure.

Hornady may not be bench rest quality, but then again not everyone shoots benchrest or Fclass either so there's that.

For long range hunting, steel, and PRS they do just as well as the rest at a fraction of the cost.

Pretty easy for me to hold 1/3-1/2 MOA with the ELDM line all the way out to 1200 out of my long range hunting/target rifles. And I've won a few long range matches them myself, when everyone else was shooting Sierras or Bergers, fancy that huh...
I felt the same until the ELDM started disappearing at long range....and putting banana holes in 100 yard targets. I had used over 6000 of them. Hornady said it was my problem.

Funny.

My customer barrel sales and customer rifle builds last two years are absolutely DOMINATED by Hornady bullet success stories.

Also, because of the "shortage" people who previously turned their nose up at Hornady bullets are now trying them and coming back blown away.

But please, keep saying they are junk so they remain available.

give their v-max a go on varmints......... they have no equal.

BTW, a 58gr 6mm V-max in a 6BR loaded with AA2230 will print groups that will make short range group shooters take notice.

Some years ago I tried the 58 vmax in a 6ppc out of curiosity. No load development, just seated turn in place of my normal 68 grain Eubers. About 1 in ten had a mind of its own. The other 9 impressed, little holes. Their Spire Points have been my go to deer bullet under 500 yards for 60 years and never left me down. Never tried much of the newer stuff except some Amax but I do better with SMK.

To each his own. I just never seen the magic in Hornady.

I used to lIke their Amax line for inexpensive decent shooting bullet. I still think the whole melting tip crap was just a ploy to drop Amax and replace it with a more expensive bullet.

No equal? I do shoot Vmax on occasion due to their price and availability, but I will choose Sierrra Blitzkings for accuracy and performance every time.

For me. The v-max has a bunch more surprise for the rock chucks than the blitzkings ever did. The serria bullets are accurate and work great, but in our 223’s and 6br’s the v-max is superior

Sad so much slamming of Hornady, when they have and are doing so much to improve and keep our shooting sports going.

And let's not forget about the other qualities of the great 6.5 C M by Hornady. I mean that cartridge would send a bullet as far as one would care to shoot, the bullet would look further down range to see if anything else was close by, and then drag the dead animal back to the hunter.

How could I forget about that part Bill

I want to shoot bergers and sierra but they are always out of stock. The eldm fills a niche for me which is 1 bullet for long range and varmints. No, its not super explosive, but it expands and I have never noticed a ricochet. Sierra should make a 108ish TMK, but even if they did it would be out of stock. The vmax is a no brainer, cuz it is always in stock too. All shoot consistent .5 moa or so.

Rumor has it that the "Man Bun" has taken bull elephant in Zambia from Oregon with 1 shot.

Interloks. Accurate and deadly on anything in the Michigan deer woods. Nice price too. That's what Hornady is good for. Oh and cheap, accurate, bulk 556 55gr BTSP bullets.

If you are running a custom action with a custom barrel, in a competition cartridge, Hornady probably isn't the first place to look for your reloading components.

Bottom line, for hunting and bulk ammo Hornady is the best price for the accuracy you get. But that same attribute excludes them from anything on the high end of the accuracy side of things. They are the Ford/Dodge/Chevy Trucks of bullets.
