Hornady (or other) US cleaner, or one like this?

Was wondering if there really is much of a difference in buying the "official" UltraSonic cleaner like the Hornady, or getting something like this on Ebay for a few bucks more:

This one appears to have a 60 minute timer, plus twice the capacity. It appears in my research that people mostly complain about cycles (480 sec max with the Hornday) and capacity.

I have the Hornady and if I had looked/seen what you have linked I would have bought that one instead. For the reasons you have listed too.

I don't know that any one cleaner can be rightly called an "official" cleaner. They all get the job done, some a little better and sometimes faster than others. The secret's in the sauce! There are many good articles on accurateshooter.com that have explored different concoctions, some in the end, more favored than others.

From all of my research, I found that those with heaters seem to be more efficient than those without. Mine doesn't have one, because at the time, I wasn't willing to shell out the extra bucks just to see if it was true. You might give one of the heated ones a try and report back on your results.

Be aware that contact between Stainless containers and Brass cases can cause BLACKENING of your Brass with certain chemical solutions IOSSO Case Cleaner is one such chemical. Been there done that.

It took all of 60 sec with the SS basket in the solution with the brass. I use a plastic sive know

Dave B, First time poster here. Did I read a post you made as gunamonth several years ago? If so, it made alot of sense. So are you saying the Ebay unit is not a good deal? I just got home from Har Fre and that plastic one does Not look as good as this ebay unit.

That early post mentioned The Crest 175 and it is 45 transducer watts. But, at $210(cheapest I've found it) I don't want to spend that much.

So if your spending cap was $150 would you buy the Ebay unit or The Har Fre $69.00 unit

or do you know of another alternative?

Thank You For The Advice.

Thanks Dave. I Get it, lower power=less brass. Wider unit=Brass closer to transducers.

Are you still using Citranox vs 50/50 viniger for the solution?

Thanks Alot!

Take a look at the L & R Ultrasonic cleaners, I've had my #36 close to 25 yrs. and it was used at a jewerly store prior to me buying it. It holds 3 gallons, has heat, 12 Min./ Hold timer and has an drain to empty the solution, works for me .223 Rem. all the way to 50BMG.
