Hornady match bullets

I am new to a 6 Dasher and I shoot a lot. Has anyone tried the newer 105 match bullets made by Hornady? The ones without the plastic tip. It is hard to beat their price but price means little if the accuracy is not there. Any thoughts?

If I shoot the 105 Hornady match right behind 107 Sierras, same powder charge, they hit about 3 inches lower, at 600 yards, I have learned this and come up 4 clicks on the NF , Neil

sdneil,

Was the MV the same thou for both loads?

When I had a look at them, I saw that the me plays looked a bit more consistant then the SMK can be at times.

Below is a group I shot today at 300m. Switchy winds which account for the 4 flyers. Two of them on a cold frontal push and then two wide left was due to switchy left/right wind. Bottom 6 into below 1" group with 5 into half inch. Conditions verified by my shooting buddy who called them and watched the push and wind.

Load was 39gr H4350, 10 thou jam, Lapua brass, CCI 450.

I would agree. They show promise but for the price, I would sort them if I was using them for competition. Im planning on using them for club shoots, ill have SMK or Lapua for matchs.

Just loaded up some hornadys for my new barrel, did a bit of sorting. It got interesting. I originally bought 2x 100 boxes, both same lot number. One box which I finished today I measured the base to Ojive length and got an average of .713, next box I measured a few and got an average of .720. Same lot number but at least a 7 thou variation from box to box. But if they shoot I'll just sort them.

I just bought some 162gr 7MM match and checked them and was disappointed to find that they are off by as much as .015 from one end to the other. Most averaged around .005
