Has anyone tried one to tear down a pile of ammo? I have 8mm mauser to tear down do to some neck splits. I have an rcbs, but is labor intensive and with 500 rounds to do,I would surely spend more to save time.

I've used a Forster collet puller which is very close to an RCBS to pull bullets before in some quantity, not 500 but 200, it took awhile but the bullets didn't suffer any damage.

It's worth the time compaired to the cost of bullets/powder for me...........

The RCBS, & Forester are similar and fairly slow. The Hornady with the cam over is 2 or 3 times faster, and bullets are fine. I used Hornady to pull 1000 17's and was quick and easy

John,
Good morning my friend! i use the hornady and pull alot/ and mexican match alot of ammo. i think it is the best design. the cam lever can get the extra grab that some of the others can't. I am pulling OLD milsurplus ammo too. with practice you can use it like the RCBS/ Forester by leaving the handle down and give a 1/4 turn, or use the lever for the ammo that is easier to pull and you willl go faster. the best features are no pull marks on the jacket, and you can use either method for when your hands get tired. my most recent session i pulled 450+ rounds, and drank 2 beers. it was M80 ammo. .308 147gr fmjs on 5 round strippers for the m14. the crimped brass and asphalt seal is easier to over come in the cold i think. changing the collet for different calibers is easy to do too. it takes about 5 seconds/round if you are a little "gentle".
cheers,
Doc

I agree with Doc, its really one of the best items I've purchased!! Easy to use and leaves no marks on the heads. Just as easy if you just want to pull the heads up a bit without completely pulling them. I seriously doubt you'll regret buying one.

Absolutely agree to the functionality of the Hornady Cam-Lok puller.

Except for flush seated pistol ammo it is the cat's pajama's.

You can pull prodigious quantities without much effort.

For old ammo that is difficult to pull, you might set up a seater die and seat the bullets into the case just a few thousandths, just enough to break them loose. This will reduce the clamping force needed to pull the bullet, and reduce bullet deformation.
