Hornady Interbond???

Any of you guys using these bullets?

I'm looking for something in my .270 for deer and accuracy.

Any pro or cons?

Have you tried the Hornady SST's? Is there a need for a premium high dollar bonded bullet? We have been shooting SST's for years and they are accurate and devastating. Im going to quote dad here "There is only an inch of fur and a rib bone between you and both lungs and if he cant breath he aint goin far"

Yep I've used them with fairly good success actually. However they didn't shoot QUITE as good as Nolser BT's.

But we're talking minimal difference.

Just wanted to try something new I suppose?!

PS...I like the BC's on the interbonds as well.

You are correct as to the ballistic tips out shooting the SST's. I have noticed that in several guns but a few others prefer the SST.

I load for my friend.. His rifle, a 7mm Mag., shoots the 140gr. Hornady Interbond at 3200f.p.s. These bullets are not only accurate (a bit over an inch @ 200 yards) they hold together. My friend shot at a pig ( 225pounder) at only 40+ yards. The pig was trotting away from him at a slight angle. He placed the bullet well into the paunch area and it tore thru the guts, went sailing thru the heart / lung area, up thru the neck and out the forehead of the pig. It was a sold 2ft of penetration and exiting those thick skulls! The pig rolled FORWARD head over heels and never twitched! Now admittedly, this was the only shot we had, nevertheless, at that close range, on a sizable and tough animal, it penetrated as well as, or better, than any bullet! This means it holds together! The damage to the "innards" was very substantial, indicating excellent expansion! It did what it was supposed to!

I tried the Accubonds but they didn't shoot very well. Good bullet in other guns but my .270 didn't like em.

I like the SST's too. I'd like somthing that performs real well out to 500 yards on game, something that releases lots of energy. So I suppose the SST or the Ballistic Tip would be the logical choice, I just like the ook of the Interbond.

Have shot both bullets in deer and none of them went more than 20 yards. For small whitetail the SST is all you need. Interbond may be "overkill". Also shot some deer last year with the GMX and they were nasty on the 3 deer I shot. All those DRT did't even think about moving

SST's on small deer??? Do larger deer have body armour protecting their lungs??? I have shot deer in various ares of the country with the SST's and never had a larger deer spit one back at me. Remember we as hunters should only take ethical shots at the animal we r hunting. NO PREMIUM BULLET WILL MAKE UP FOR POOR SHOT PLACEMENT PERIOD.

just saying I don't think I need a bullet designed to kill a 800lb moose on a 85 lb doe. I have actually killed more deer using Rem Core Lokt bullets and never lost a animal

I have used a lot of the Hornady bullets, they have been good to me. Buy a box and try them.

I must agree on those Core Lokts. I have shot more deer with those bullets than any other bullet. They have never failed myself or any of my family. Up until a few years ago they were like $10 a box of 20. We saw no need to load for Pa whitetails since our shots are limited to 150 yards and less most being under 100 yards. Then came the price hike and the premium bullet craze. I love those core lokts

First of all the 270 is one of the finest deer cartridges ever developed especially for longer ranges. You really can't go wrong with this caliber using most of "standard / traditional" bullet offerings.

I don't believe you need hi-tech / expensive bullets for this caliber for white tail. The Sierra 130 grain Game King will do everything you want it to do at a fraction of the cost. If you put the shot in the "boiler room", it will knock a deer flat.

As one other poster recommended, the Remingtion Core-Lokt is also an outstanding bullet with a proven history of success.

PS: high tech bullets will not make up for poor markmanship - the less expensive bullets will make it more economical for you to practice more often and increase your chances of success. I'm not suggesting that you are a poor marksman - but if you're like me - there is always room for improvement and the better we get the more meat we'll put in the freezer.

I figured this would turn into an ethics topic lol...

What I really need to know are these two things....

1) How did the Interbonds shoot out of your .270 compared to other hand loads

2) How did the Interbonds perform on deer at whatever distance you have used them?

Why I want to use them is up to me, I can get bullets pretty cheap, price isn't a factor. I reload a lot and I shoot a lot. I just wanted to see what guys were seeing with these bullets!

PS...I'm not looking for a bullet to make up for "poor marksmanship".....I'm not worried about making a bad shot
