Hornady Auto Charge

Had mine for two weeks and lots of use. Here's what I have learned.

Short version is it's fast, repeatable and basically WORKS.

Two weeks ago it was frustrating. There are basically no directions in the box. No parts list, no assembly instructions, warranty card, and absolutly no detailed directions. Hornady calls their "manual" that little folding card that's included. Assemble everything with the pictures on the box and "common sense".

Matt Mack at 800-338-3220 ext. 272 is knowledgable and helpful. Issues will arise with defaults and settings like "auto" and "manual", motor dispense mode, changing target weight. trickle speed, zero with/without that pan, clearing overages etc. Only some of this is on their card. I experienced much frustration initially but it's all something you can figure out.

Well, how "accurate" is it?

It really is within .1 of a grain. At first that .1 grain was low. There were also frustrations with "OVER". Then I figured out that adding 1/4" rubber feet to the front tipped the thing back, helped with the trickle-dump issues and "OVER", while adjusting the absolute weight .1 grain to become accurate with the reading.

Think a little longer threading of the drop tube will help with "OVERS" also. Matt told me he's playing with that issue.

I like it. It works. Needs better documentation. How's that for an evaluation?
