Hornady AeroMatch bullets

Have anyone tried these new bullets for 6mm @ 600 - 1000 yard F Class? Downside is they sell only in 500 round boxes and they are cheap, but don't sell in 100 boxes for testing.

Thank you, it was an interesting read. Hopefully more shooters would try to do load developments and see how they shoot at distance.

The AeroMatch bullets have lower BCs than the Match and ELD bullets. They are marketed to match Sierra bullets, but I consider them inferior to Hornady's other offerings. It's a marketing effort rather than a performance advantage. I'm a fan of Hornady bullets, but will ignore the AeroMatch.

I'm not going to dismiss them out of hand - nor am I buying 500 to find out. The BC may not be of importance, as I expect them to be used for 300m, but accuracy will be.

there have been a few threads on these bullets here in recent past. seems like a couple guys tried them out and did not get as good of accuracy as a berger 105 which i thought one of the aeromatch was supposed to be a knock off of. you mite want to do a forum search. the price isnt all that much better either is it? as for me i dont think ill be buying any aeromatch inless the supply of berger, lapua, sierra dry up for many years..

ive been shooting berger 105 vld at 1K- would the scenar be a better choice?
I dont have any experience with the Berger 105's
The heavier Bergers I have shot, being 109's & 115's
But for a lighter bullet, I found the Lapua 105's to be very consistent at 600 yds
----I would Imagine the Berger is just as good.
Mainly the Lapua is going to be better than the Hornady

I know I commented this a while back on a similar thread about these, but I don’t even assume different lots of the same bullet can be interchanged without double checking the tune and I don’t think it is reasonable to take a load tuned with a specific lot of Bergers, substitute the Aeromatch with no further changes, and expect the best out of it. Hornady has said a lot of things that are true within a specific set of conditions that never quite include LR F-class or BR conditions and expectations for performance.

If Hornady releases a 80-90gn 22cal Aeromatch, I will buy them and do a full work-up with multiple powders in my 22 BRs (4-groove, 7.7 and 8 twist) , 22 PPC (4-groove, 7.5 twist), and 222 (5R, 7 twist) to see if anything likes them. I always give green and yellow the same chance.
