Hornady 87 Vmax Loads for 6BR

I am wanting to try some Hornady 87 grain vmax loads in my 1x8 twist 6BR. In searching these forums and powder manufacturers I've come up with a load for Varget (31.0 grains) and IMR 8208 (29.8 grains). I'm looking for a recommendation for RE15.

Thanks

I was shooting some 75g vmax's in Peterson brass in a 8 twist for coyotes.
during the winter.
Using VV n135 and 30.1g
The RL15 isn't as temp stable as other powders so I didn't try it.
Varget is hard on barrels and harder to find now. The 8208 might be
a bit fast for the 87's. Just my 2 cents.

I tried the 87gr Vmax in an 8twist 6BR a few years ago. Had my best luck working up with 8208 around the weight you listed in your post. N135 and 4895 were pretty good too. I tried R-15 and felt that it was too slow for the 87's. All that said I wasn't as wow'd by the 87's compared to the good 103-107g bullets when it came to accuracy. One of those things where I thought long enough about a bad to marginal idea until it sounded like a good idea I guess.;):) Hopefully you have better luck than I did. YMMV. WD

I tried 31.0 grains of Varget yesterday with 87 grain Vmax - 3 shot group was .25”. Seems like it will work. Trying some 95 grain Sierra Match King Tipped this morning.

Did you ever find what you were looking for here? I am looking for the same for RL15. The 87's shoot great with 32.6 over a 450 with no pressure signs. Has been too dark and rainy here for my old school chrony to work.

Well I installed a new 1x9 twist barrel and shoot 90 grain Bergers with Varget so my quest with the 87 Vmaxes has ended

I have 2 boxes on the shelf I'm going to run in my 6br with H4895. Hoping for 5 shot .5 moa at 100 yards for starters.
We shall see.
