Hornady 7mm 180 grs. ELD-M

Any current report out. Anyone using them for 1000 yds. BR. Pro/con before I buy 500.

I have been trying them in my 1-9 284. They have out shot the 162s out to 500yds but in my rifle they seem to open up as they go out. At 800 and 1000yds the 162s out shoot them. I think it is because I am on the ragged edge on the twist. It is the only reason I can think of at this point. I was ready to switch to the 180s until I shot them at 800 and 1000yds....

I've ran 2200 down the tube of my .284 1:825 barrel and found them to be very consistent.

I just shot my best group ever with these in a 7mm rem mag. 5 shots, 1 hole. Loaded to mag length.

The 180ELD match bullet shoot great for me. Shot this group with 8.25 twist at 600yds.

I tested them extensively in my 284 shehane. I got some screamer groups but they were not consistent performers. I only tested at 1000 and my leftovers have been set aside to use for fireforming. My shooting partner also tested them with the same results. We used 32” barrels with a 1:9 and a 1:8.
They performed bad enough to make me think my scope had gone bad..... but it was the bullets all along.

I tried them when they first came out and they shot okay but couldn't come close to out shooting 180gr bergers out to 1400yds. also tried them on game and they couldn't come close to dropping game like a berger!
