Hornady 6mm 87gr v-max for target?

Have any of you folks tried shooting Hornady v-max bullets for highpower? The Hornady 87 grain BT has been my bullet of choice for the 200 yard line (both standing and seated) in my 6mmAR match gun. Those BTs have been impossible to find lately, so I got a few hundred of the 87 gr v-max bullets to try. I'm just planning to use them at the short line (200) if they seem to shoot okay. Have any of you highpower guys tried these bullets? Good accuracy? Consistent?

I haven't personally, but know many that have and do and te consensus is they are good to go. I used the 87 BTHP in a 240 Tomahawk but wouldn't hesitate To use the Vmax in their place based on the information I was given on them.

They work just fine. So do the 75 gr V-max.

They shoot very small groups at 200. I used these in my 6AR shooting XTC for years and still hold a range record here of 492-24X I loaded them down with 2 less grains of powder for X-ring accuracy.

Thanks for the reply... question: "2 grains less of powder..." 2 grains less than what? I typically don't shoot a very stout load at 200... I'm thinking of just using the same load that I currently use on the 87 BTs.

I think I saw some where that Carl Bernowsky ( sorry Carl if I butchered your name!) was shooting the 87grVmax at the short line. Seems he shoots pretty well with them if that is the case. Ha!

Im in the same boat as the rest of you as I have been using the ole 87grBTHP's from Hormady and they have put them on hold to get caught up on other more requested bullets. So the other day I saw some Vmax's and put them in my cart. Unfortunatly I can not report on the accuracy or variences in loading on the 6mm Fat Rat. I had to ship out before i got time to test them.

I shot the 87gr Hunting VLD Berger at 200 and 300 for Perry this last year with great success.. They are jumpin a long long ways and still hammerin.

This bullet flat out shoots. I shot a 4 group agg. of .288 with this bullet in my 6 BR. ;D
