Hornady 6mm 80gr ELD-VT

With the scarcity of Berger 6mm 80gr varmint bullets I was hoping to hear from someone who has tried Hornady's new 80gr ELD-VT in a 6BR. How do they compare to Berger's.

I just ordered some for a 6cm. Might take me a couple weeks but I’ll post results. Anybody else shot any in the meantime and want to share some experiences with them?

I typically do 99% of my varminting in other cartridges, but would like to dial this 80 gr VT bullet in the 6 cm. I also have a ton of the 87 gr elds that I will directly compare them against.

I’ve been pretty basic on the last 6cm barrel and shot the 105 hybrid target Bergers which shot amazing and did great on PDs as well but I’m hoping for more fireworks and better kool-aid cartwheels with these but will see.

I’ve got the 60 gr 224s on the way for the 22CM as well.

I tried them in a 6br with a 1:10 at about 3200 fps and couldn't get them to properly stabilize. It was kind of weird, all shots at 100 would be between 0.3 & 0.4, but there was always 1 that would keyhole through that group, Some shot at 200 wouldn't hit the paper. Gun will put 87 Horn and 88 Bergers through the same hole at 100. 80 ELD's were simply to long. A 6CM will with more velocity or a faster twist should solve the problem

I'm looking forward to your results. It seems all the attention has been on the 62 gr ELD-VT. I am interested in trying the 80 gr in my 6 creed. There is not a lot of info out there for the 80 gr.

8 twist is recommended. I shot some in 6 br this past weekend. 15" barrel 7.5 twist 29 grains - 30.5 of varget. 2600-2800 fps. Shot under 3/4 moa with out any tuning. Seems like it had alot of potential. Will try again with n140 and seating depth.
