Hornady 6mm 75g V-Max?

For those of you that shoot the V-Max bullets,
do they like a little or lot of jump?
Just want to get a starting point

I shot them in a 6 AI with Win 760 at 3800 fps in a zero freebore, 14 Twist. They like to be seated very close to the lands, but I can not remember the exact number.

If you get into this bullet, buy them by the 1000 as they vary from lot to lot. You should also try the 80g Sierra Blitz BT which is an unbelievable accurate bullet.

Barrels will like what they like. I had one 6 AI that shot the 70g blitz king at 4100 into tiny groups with win 760 and Rem brass, fire forming 1/2" groups at 3850 fps, 14 twist.

Sierra uses a Match grade jacket on the 70g blitz king and they are worth the extra $ for this very reason.

I shot them in my LRPV 6BR tried them in and out. In was in was cloverleaf or better, out was roughly 1/2-3/4 moa. Both were acceptable for varmint shooting. On a side note, I hate jammed bullets for hunting/varminting. Lifted the bolt on the gun after passing on a shot once and emptied the powder into the action. It was a doh moment for sure.

I have never been able to get the V-Max to shoot as good as Sierra bullets in any of my 6mm rifles.

The V-Max is a very inconsistent bullet. Not only lot-to-lot, but also very inconsistent bullet-to-bullet in each box.

Try the Sierra 70gr HP Varminter or various BlitzKing line of bullets and you'll be a lot happier with your results on paper and in the field ;)

Try that 80 grain Sierra Blitz. It really shoots and loads so easy and from I hear it hits like a lightning bolt on nitromethane.

My 6-284 has enough free bore that I can barely keep an 87 vmax in the case when it's that close to the rifling. Is switching to a Sierra something or other likely to get better results?

Bullet design on a 85g sierra bthp should help you out. I shot a big load of IMR 4831 with the 85's doing 3600 years ago.

Also, a 90g Sierra tipped should be in your line up with decent velocity around 3500.

They are very jump-tolerant. Doing some experimentation - I got similar results Jamming to .040" off with a few different loads.
