Hornady 178 ELD-M

Can I use 178 AMAX data for the 178 ELD-M in .308? Also, any load data anyone may have to get started will be appreciated. Shooting a Savage 10 twist at 30 inches.

They’re supposedly a different profile from the like sized AMAXs so I would use smart reloading practices and back off your charge slightly and be prepared to adjust seating depth. Hopefully you aren’t working too much to get back to a decent load. I have not made a switch from one to the next so I cannot confirm for you.

If you mean using the min/max charges listed in a reloading manual, they should be close enough to use for load work up. If you mean using a charge for the ELD you've worked up for the AMax, as Rstrick0352 mentioned, back off and work up first.

I have not loaded for either. I just got the ELDM and the Hornady manual I have only list the AMAX. I'll start low and work up.
