Power Pro 2000 MR

data for 308 isn't on the latest Quik Load so I'm looking for info with shooters who have used 178 AMAX or 185 Berger OR 185 LAPUA. Any and all info appreciated. I'm shooting down here in Hot / Humid SOUTH (AL). BTW, this is for 308 WIN using a 30" barrel (Tubb T2K).

Thanks

I've been toying around with the 2000MR powder in a few cartridges. Curious, I emailed Alliant about its burn rate and they replied it was "slightly slower than RL15. Sorry, while I've tried it in .308 Win, it was with 125 and 150 gr bullets and my groups were so-so with it. Lately, I've tried it a number of times in a couple of my 6.5x55 rifles. Even with loads near Alliants Max with 2000MR, the bullets will hit around 3" lower on a 100 yard target than other powders I use for this cartridge.

OK< I was told RL17 was they way to go with HEAVY (208) and that just didn't happen in the Tubb. I did better w/ IMR 4895 & 185 Lapua &/or Bergers !!!
Maybe someone else has done some shooting with the 2000 MR. Hopefully w/ 168 > 185 gr projectiles.

Well, I have heard that RL17 did seem to work with the 208's in the .308, I have no experience with that. It worked in the .284 and the 7RSAUM, that I was shooting. But as to the reports I have been seeing, have been with smaller cases, like the .223 and heavy bullets.

It is funny, I just saw someone on here post a powder burn rate chart and that list said that RL15 was faster burning than Varget and 2000MR was not even in the list. Also that list had CFE223 listed as being a slower burn powder than RL15 and Varget!

Most burn rate data is gathered in a combustion bomb which operates at lower pressure than the cartridges that we shoot. the powder can act different in a different case and pressure. The charts are just a very basic guide line to start with.
