Homebrew Penetrating Oil - Removing Factory Barrel

The "home brew" 50/50 ATF and acetone works for me. Apply for several days and/or soak by tying a rag around the problem. I've used it on farm equipment parts and gun action threads. Where you can, tap with a hammer after applying. Apply for several days. If you need instant gratification.... use heat! The stuff works!

Heat the barrel. Not the action.

Atf is mineral oil. It really has no penetrating properties at all by itself. Project Farm did a really good penetrating oil test on YouTube. Worth watching.

Best penetrating oils I have tried are PB Blaster and Free All.

But barrels aren't rusted. They are GLUED.

How about a heat gun instead of the torch?
Sounds a little safer.

A heat gun is plenty. I was afraid of using a torch on my old Sendero years ago. Heat gun worked great.

We used Knock'er Loose, referred to as knock'er up.
And I still laugh every time.

I've tried all of them. Free-all seems miles above. Good for barrel cleaning, too.

That was my thought, I’ll keep the acetylene in the farm shop.
