Home made Rest

You better watch it...this is how "your" homemade rest becomes everyone else's....very nice looking.

A friend of mine made himself a portable shooting bench, years later he got so busy he started out sourcing everything just to keep up.

It looks like it is a GREAT rest for the "Benchrest" discipline. As always, your machine work is impeccable! May I make a few suggestions? #1: Look at the top of an S.E.B "NEO" rest and the "ears" are movable and can be made as tight against the stock or as loose as you want; #2: See if you can adapt that "slick- top" material, instead of leather or even nylon, and #3: I would make "pointed" leg screws for better gripping on concrete bench tops. This is not to criticize your rest, it looks excellent. I was just making some observations.. Great job!

Excellent work sir. There's a lot more to this than is seen at first glace. The little adjustable spirit level, the toggle lever leveling screw, the hinged side adjusters etc. All beautifully finished and anodised.

Nice work!

Mine, some 10+ years ago puts a lot more weight out on the legs....just sayin.

What's interesting,is we just got two transits in for cleaning and upgrades. The pre war Dietzgen(sp) was pretty much,no big deal

The K&E was looking for an upgrade on the base,....the part that interfaces with the legset. To wit.....yadayada,we did a thick "billet" Alum bse pce machined to accept the legs.

Long story short....I've been looking through transits and everything in between for 40+ years. That thick arse base to the K$E made a noticeable difference.Just sayin....get a little more weight on the legs of your rest

When i clicked on this i expected somthing much diferent. That is great workmanship! You have talent. Home made stuff has the most care put into it.

If I had something like that my groups would be very tiny indeed, very nice indeed. I tried having my bolt fluted but it didn't help my shooting at all.....;)
