What's up with that Savage bolt? (http://proprecisionrifles.com/boltflutinggallery/10.html) I've never seen one with a 'recessed' section near the cocking piece?

I have another one in the shop right now just like it. I personally have never seen so many variations of the same bolt from any manufacterer.
