Uhggg you sir are in the try and see department.... Holsters are a personal preference thing , what might work for someone may be the most uncomfortable thing for you ever... I have a small box of holsters I have bought and didn't like... I carry outside the waistband because I have never found a holster that was comfortable IWB.... My neighbor does and he said the alien gear setup was super comfortable.... You might check it out...

In order to shorten your ordeal, buy one of every holster you see. Eventually you will find one that works pretty good.

My personal favorite material is horsehide. It's light, tough, and does not absorb sweat like cowhide. A big part of the equation is how your body is shaped/weight. For all day carry, something with a large backing that will grip against your underclothes will probably be most comfortable. Make sure the holster you select does not activate your mag release button. A holster that hugs your body really tight makes it hard for you to get a good grip on the pistol before you draw.

Great family ran business. Wonderful people to do business with. Father is former military and law enforcement and government contractor. One of the sons is in Ranger Bat. Mom, who runs the business, is about the nicest person you can meet.

I am a fan of horsehide leather IWB holsters as well. That being said, I have a couple polymer guns that I carry in Crossbreed and Alien Gear holsters.

Another thing to keep in mind when buying holsters, you need a good, stiff, well fitting belt, or you will never find a holster that "works" because it won't sit tight.

I’m starting my own box. I just ordered a crossdraw outside waist band to try. Time will tell. It may wind up in the box. Darn thing is, my old favorite was a shoulder holster but it’s too darn hot in Texas to wear a jacket!

Ugh…. No wrong answers given. Good luck NOT filling a dresser drawer trying to find the right one. Very personal choice on what works best. Too many variables. Body build is as much of a factor as any. For IWB I like Phalanx Concealment for my P365X. Only reason I prefer is that it’s available in leather lined kydex.

That is the reason I carry on my belt in a safari land ALS holster... I just buy a bigger shirt and just don't tuck it in.... I have never had anybody say anything and of course you know Texas has open or concealed carry... The summer is to brutal here in central Texas I have seen holsters full of sweat...

I SWORE I'd never end up with a box o' holsters but I did. I started carrying a 5" 1911 in God's Caliber, all steel wonder beast for my first CCW. It was, and is, a great piece of machinery. (Wilson Combat) It rode in the very nice Sparks VMII horsehide shark trim holster. Beautiful craftsmanship.

Then I went to a 4" WC 45. Again, all steel. Again in a Sparks VMII.

HOWEVER, several classes later with various instructors as well as advances in bullet technology convinced me that:

1) The 45 ACP is great but the 9 will certainly do what needs to be done. Still have to hit the right spot regardless of bore diameter. The 9mm guns generally have a higher capacity, which is never a bad thing.

2) Leather is classy but kydex is much more practical.

3) Full size steel 1911's are heavy, even in good holsters with good belts.

4) Poly striker fired 9mm double stack pistols are light, cheap, generally extremely reliable and very forgiving maintenance wise. They are soulless hunks of plastic but the damn things work.

5) Therefore, a 4" M&P 2.0 in a JM Custom Kydex VMII clone is the current choice. It just runs.

6) As the years pass, everything seems to be getting heavier

I’ve been thinking of getting one of those really big belt buckles some guys wear down here and riveting a holster on the back of it. What do ya think?

The right holster and proper belt help carry a gun. I've seen far to many folks stop carrying because they "aren't comfortable" after they bought a cheap holster.

I have a box of holsters at home. If i am carrying a gun I have a holster made from Tucker gun leather and know i get one that allows me to carry comfortably. The answer is great for any and all. Their belts are superb as well.

I'm not an appendix carry guy I always carry around the 4 o'clock in the answer and when i'm OWB carrying their stuff is great as well.
