Hole dia.

Is there any significant difference from a 6.5 dia. hole to a 30cal. hole on the Area 419 muzzle brakes? As far as using a 30cal. hole on a 6.5 Creedmoor? I know that it will work but not sure if there would be much if any performance difference? Any thoughts or sites that have done this testing? Thanks

I almost did what you are asking, I ran a 30 cal 419 brake on a 6 creed until I got a 6.5 one. The recoil reduction with the smaller hole is slightly better, no difference accuracy wise. I bought 6.5 size in case I went up.
Since, I have put the 6.5 brake on a 6 Dasher and even though it works, I think the 6mm size would be better because of lack of gas to start with, make sense?
I just bought a used 6mm 419 brake for the dasher, gun shoots too good to mess with it though.

Yes Sir, thanks for the info. Much appreciated. That's kinda why I'm getting the 30cal from Brownells, the 6.5 black is out of stock. And they have the 30cal. black in stock $10 off and free shipping total $149. So I bought the 30cal. for now. May buy the 6.5 when there back in stock, if I can get it for the same price. I can always have one of my 308 rifles threaded so as to use the 30cal break later on it later. Thanks again for your help.

I always run one size up. 6.5mm on my 6, 308 on my 7mm. They get dirty and full of junk and I like the idea of extra clearance. I personally don't notice any difference in recoil.

Well in the first place I don't use area 419 but I have installed probably over a hundred brakes I use Harrell precision an vias muzzle brakes they recommend .020 thousands over groove diameter if you go more than .030 over you have lost the efficiency of the brake plus maximum accuracy.

Wished I was told sooner about sponsorship! Well if the 419 break works as well as everyone says I'll be buying another and I'll buy direct. Hope that they can match the $148.50 from Brownells.Wait isn't Brownells a sponsor too?

Kinda conflicting results from one company to another doing tests on hole dia. verses bullet dia. I guess tests do vary.
