It’s a different animal in a closed chamber, though it does run hot.
I have a GP 100 that has digested numerous pounds of lilgun with zero issues. I will admit to having limited my use of it after this issue came about.

I believe the problem with LilGun in some revolvers is that they were running pressures above what the powder was designed for. I use it regularly but maintain pressures under 45,000 PSI. Almost always 40,000 PSI.

My understanding is that at higher pressures the temperature of LilGun becomes extreme.

I use Lil-Gun in three 221 FBs. I loaded the rounds below the starting recommendations and had pressure problems with every one. With my Cooper 21 I had to send it back to Cooper to have the bolt resoldered. The pressure was so high I broke the bolt handle while trying to open the bolt. I switched to 17.5 gr of AA1680, 50 gr V-Max bullet and got excellent accuracy.

It is better in a straight wall or tapered, like Hornet. Even a .22K hornet can bring out it's bad side.

Use in khornet and 221at Hodgdon shown max. Never an issue with 40 gr blitz kings. Extremely accurate. Great critter getter. 221 dropped a tote at honest 350. DRT!!

I like it in the 30 Carbine because I get 2050 FPS and after a string on 10 rounds the barrel feels cooler than H110. Keeping the pressure to 40,000.
