My lgs guy told me he hadn’t seen any from the distributors he purchases from in over 2 years!…. I was sure I saw a jug there a few months ago but he told me Thursday no!..Anybody seeing any H4198 anywhere. It seems as though it’s not being made or at least it’s scaled way back.
I’d pay that if I could get it. It’s non existent where I am at.I see some up here. Not cheap at $62.12/lb US
H4198 is made in Australia by ADI and Hodgden imports it here. For whatever reasons, Hodgden had not brought any into the U.S. for a couple years. We'll see it again but it's hard to say when. -AlAnybody seeing any H4198 anywhere. It seems as though it’s not being made or at least it’s scaled way back.
I still have 20+ pounds of it, all of it obtained in the last 5 years. Last time I saw it was 2+ years ago though. It sells out fast. I use it in some of my smaller cartridges, mostly 222 but I’ve played around with N130 in those same rifles with good results. Last week I tried N130 in one of my 45-70s, the SD numbers were fantastic with a good fill rate with a 350 grain Hornady flat point. H4198 may be unicorn dust but there are some good substitutes that you can actually find a available right now. With the recent price increase from Hodgdon, Vihatavouri is even more attractive. I just bought 16 pounds on N130 on sale at 260.00 per 8 pound plus the usual shipping and haz mat.About 3 years ago I was looking for that powder for a 45-70 load and never found it. In all of my vast 5 years of reloading, I've never seen that powder on the shelf.
Can you send me any load data for the 20 VT that I can try?LT-30 shot great in my 20VT. Low ES and excellent accuracy. It was part of the hodgdon purge of my powder cabinent
List in the classifieds…I have 11 lb in PA I'd be happy to part with. Shipping???
