Hodgdon Extreme powder for 338LM/300gr

Hodgdon powders are coming to Norway and these powders are totally unknown to me.

I shoot over a fairly large temperature span, a lot of if cold (attached video) so the Extreme series with less V0 deviation with temperature seems very desirable to me.

However, I have no idea what powder to use. What do you recommend for 338LM shooting 300gr bullets?

I also intend to shoot 123 and 140gr 6,5mm bullets in 6,5x55 and 6,5x284 (but with different powders I reckon)

H1000 and retumbo are the slow burning powders in the extreme line. You can check the hodgdon website for data.
H4831 and 4831sc might fill your 6.5 mm needs.

I'm going to start using retumbo in my 338 when my stash of vv n560 is gone.

That video was awsome! Thanks for sharing.

Hello Roe.. I shoot a 6.5 x 284 and a 6.5 x 47 Lapua... I believe the 6.5 x 47 Lapua is "not too far off" from your 6.5 x 55... In BOTH of my rifles, I shoot H4350... It is IDEAL in those calibers. With 140gr bullets in the 6.5 x 284 you should start out at 47.5grs. and work towards 49.5grs. Somewhere in there you will find your load. I can't say too much about the 6.5 x 55 as I have never had one>>>but it is right between the 6.5 x 47 and the larger 6.5 x 284 so you could extrapolate the approximate charge for your 6.5 x 55... I hope this helps...

I shoot 260 Remington, which is pretty close to 6.5 Swede. Using H4350 as well, H4831 (or its short cut variant) will work too.

Having played this for awhile, my guess is you will find H-1000 the best. I would strongly recommend you try Norma MRP-2 also though. I have had two 338 Ack Imp rifles and one loved MRP-2 and the other likes H-1000 and MRP-2 equally, but here H-1000 is about half the cost. the first rifle shot only the 300 SMK at 2975 fps with MRP-2 and the other shoots the 300 SMK at 2960 and the new Berger 285 at 2975 both with same load of H-1000.

Thanks, with so many saying H1000 and H4360 I think I'll try those first.

MRP2 is not really an option for me as it is 2x the pricetag. We had some excellent Rhino (Bofors) powders here, but they have dropped out of the market it seems. I'm not going to run out of powder again mid-barrel-life, so going to stack up enough to last the barrel.

This is really frighting after watching the video, I have been watching the Vikings on the History Channel. It looks like they swapped their swords and axes in on silenced long range rifles.
Now Thor the Norse god of thunder is quiet. :o

Roe, I loved the video. Looks just like here in "Upper Slobovia". I have a Barrett 98B with a 27" barrel. No can. I tried most all of the powders from US869 to H4350. My gun likes 92.0/ H1000, F215 primers and Lapua cases with the 300 gr. Sierra. With the 250 Sierra, it likes 98+ grains of H4831sc.
The 869 and Retumbo were just a wee slow, in my gun.
Today, It's 17 degrees above and snowing like all get out, and we are in the Banana Belt. Our first mid range match is April 28th.
