Hodgdon CFE powder for .223/5.56

Has anyone been working with CFE powder in there AR's?. I have AR with a 24" heavy target/varmint barrel with a 1-8"twist. I have some 68gr BTHP hornady's and some 60 hornady v-max to try out. Last week I got 5 shot of the 60 grainer's to group 1/2"@100 yards with 25 grains of Varget. with a average speed of 2800 fps. Think I may get it to group better as I break it in. Have only shot about 50 shots thru this new upper. I thought I would give this new CFE powder a try to see what it might do. Small ball powder should meter better, just don't know how it will perform. If someone has been working with the 60-68 gr bullets that would help. With my old upper it had a1-9" twist heavy 20" barrel and I shot a lot of match black hills ammo I could shoot 1.50" groups at 300 yards. knockin the piss out of them prairie dogs. Thought I would try a 24" and hopefully get longer and tighter groups on paper at least before hitting the dog and hog patch this spring

I've only used it with 60gr Vmax in my 16" AR, and accuracy was excellent...haven't run it over the chrony.....

I'll probably stick with Benchmark and IMR8208 for the .223.

Also using it in 6BR and very pleased as well......

I have went through 1 lb in a 223 AR and 2 diff 22-250's and I am impressed , getting really good accuracy , have not crono'ed anything yet but if you believe the reloading data it has good vel . And really seems to reduce copper fouling . I like it enough I just picked up a 8# can . The other new powder I have liked in both of these is 8028

I have three 223's and two seem to like the CFE powder really well and one doesn't. My RRA w/20" barrel is the one that didn't seem to care for it. It does really like 8208 though. My Rem. XR-100 really shines with 27 gr. of CFE and a 55 BlitzKing. Nothing has been chronied yet so I have no idea fo FPS.
