Hodgdon CFE 223 Results

Got some Hodgdon CFE 223 last week. Started with a mid weight charge then worked my way up.As I was developing a load,I did not shoot groups but ran them over my chronograph and checked for signs of pressure. Hodgdon website specs were 39.8 behind a 50 gr in a 22-250 Rem.(Max charge) As of now, I'm at 39.5 grs behind a 50 gr Ballistic Tip. For 5 shots over the chrony, I got a 3950 fps average....almost 200 fps faster than my "go to " powder of Win 760.

Today was 72 degrees, 87% humidity. When I looked through the scope, there was mirage so I firmly believe the results would have been better. Total group size was .300 with a 3 shot cluster measuring .111 I think I have a new"go to" powder

I have also have found it to be a great powder, I use in 5.56 and 7.62, just keep in mind, it is a very temp. powder, I don't know your climate, but be careful on very hot days.
