Hodgdon 2023 Manual -- Deleted Cartridge Types

The new Hodgdon 2023 manual though it's thicker, and has data for Accurate and Ramshot powders, dropped a lot of cartridges from the manual.
I compared it to my 2013. Hodgdon manual, they dropped 6 cartridges up to the 223.
missing cartrdges ?
17 Ackley Hornet
17 Rem Fireball
17 Rem
22 K hornet
218 Bee
221 Fireball
I don't know what other cartridges, theyve dropped ? But that was enough for my disappointment !
 
That data is free on the www. I've only purchased one manual in 17 years of reloading. Just the first one. Don't see a need to ever buy another in the future. They seem to list a lot of old fashioned powders that I will never use, and ommit many of the modern temp stable powders that I use exclusively.

I would think this is the reason some loaders say you can never have enough manuals on hand. Just keep those old manuals! Some of those manuals predate corporate law data!

Not that I ever have or ever will load those cartridges, but it is one of the reasons to keep old reloading manuals. Of course, you have to be old to keep old reloading manuals. :(

The one cartridge on that list that I've seen a few times in the field was the 218 Bee. A few old timers (Gee I'm one of those now :() I've encountered in days past in the field hunting ghogs had these rifles. Certainly not an effective varmint cartridge beyond 150 yards especially in the level action rifles I've seen but in a bolt rifle, they can be fairly accurate.
 
I no longer buy the books, I either use online and get starting loads OR I'm shooting competition and books don't cover that and I've been doing it long enough to know on my wildcats (6PPC, 30BR, 30 Major, 6 Grendel) where I'm at or what speeds I need to get to. I think for standard cases the web will be the most up to date and inclusive. Seriously, how thick do you want that book???? :D:rolleyes::eek:
