History of Benchrest

I really miss that publication.
CW
I had subscribed to it for several years. The kicker came when I talked my nepfew to get a subscription but they wound up STIFFING him out of his subscription. That was in their last year, and I know they were under a lot of fire because the internet had been invented (Al Gore!). But I do wish they would have done something for him.
They didn't, but he has still aspired to the shooting sports

So, me and my wife shoot mostly Long Range Benchrest and I love learning about the history of the sport of benchrest in general. Articles like "Secrets of the Houston Warehouse" are really interesting to me. I just wanted to see if anyone had any other recommendations on any books, articles, videos, etc. that talk about the history of our sport, the people that have helped create and evolve benchrest and the guns and how they have evolved over the years? Thanks for any input. I look forward to learning more about this passion of our community.

Get yourself some copies of 'The ultimate in rifle precision, the benchrest shooters annual' put together by Townsend Whelen. Theres about 4 volumes from the decade of the 1950s. I have them and they are outstanding.
How many volumes are there?
I have found ‘49, ‘50, ‘51 of the annuals and two other books with the same title…..I think????

One is The Ultimate in Rifle Precision, handbook of the NBRSA published around ‘54

The other is The Ultimate in Rifle Precision, Covering Benchrest, Target, Varmint, and Hunting Rifles and their Ammunition.

I think these five different books???

How many books in “The Ultimate if Rifle Precision” series?

Mulligan, there is a '49 edition, '50, '51, '54, and '58. There's a bit of repetition, so you needn't have all of them to get the picture.

Equipment list for 1950 Dubois and Johnstown matches.
Is the Johnstown match the first match Mike Walker shot his 222? He did pretty good.
