High Standard Supermatic Trophy rear sight

I've been shooting rimfire pistol silhouette with my '80s vintage High Standard Supermatic Trophy fitted with a Lebanon Screw Machine ribbed barrel and a Holosun sight. The combination works well for me but I run into a problem when I get a dud round. The combination of the OEM rear iron sight and the Holosun optic makes it darned near impossible to operate the slide with the concealed hammer in the fired position. At least my fingers are not strong enough to grasp the slide and eject the case. I've started carrying a nylon spudger (wedge) to help me open the slide without marring the finish.

Can the rear sight on this pistol be removed? The fasteners look rather one-way.
Anyone know of any tricks or tools that would make cycling the slide easier?

If you remove that sight, I'd like to buy it for my HD Military~!

IIRC, yes. The rear sight is held in place with a couple of blind hole pins. They have to be pushed into the frame to clear the sight. HOWEVER,,, once done those pins are now part of the frame. You're not getting them out.
I've had the same setup for over 20 years and had the same frustration in clearing duds. But with the permanence of the solution, I put up with it until I switched to Nelson conversions.

Old thread, but I've seen several people put a charging handle on the left side like Ruger 10/22 has.
