HS Supermatic Trophy: Mounting optics?

I've recently started shooting informal, 40m smallbore pistol silhouette matches and find the lack of an optical sight on my '80s-vintage High Standard Supermatic Trophy to be a significant handicap. (Particularly considering my presbyopia.) I'm considering options. Not sure how to approach it: new barrel, getting a smith to drill and tap my original barrel, getting a new gun, etc. The original barrel is a 5.5" round bull barrel marked E. Hartford. I'm not sure if drilling and tapping that barrel would lower the gun's value. I don't currently have a specific optic in mind but am thinking about some red-dot. Looking for suggestions.

LSP (Lebanon Screw Products). Have used both their all steel & aluminum sleeved barrels on my Citations. Even better accuracy than the factory HS's. Easy to install, just push the button, remove the factory bbl and set the LSP in place. Can't get any easier.
