High quality scope rings?

I desire and use the Burris w inserts. So very adaptable to your hunting distance scenario and will NEVER mark your high dollar scope. Everything has a mfrg tolerance...I don't care to roll the dice when torquing them down.... with or without the 3' cheater - ;)

Just a tip for any scope ring:
Line the insides of the ring w a pc of Scotch Magic tape, the frosted, not shiny type, razor off the excess. It gives that extra little bit of "gription". Ymm not vary w this much if any.

Man i put on a dozen or so vortex rings this year. Not heavy, use huge screws and dont mark scopes. Believe its the pro series. ($59 or so)
The extra screws are a nice touch along with the 22 size torx.

Recently I've had luck with the Warne Moutnain Tech rings as an alternative to the Nightforce ultralights. I got some 34mm lows for $75 shipped. Relatively low-profile and only about 110g mass.

I'm happy with their quality.

I like Burris Signature Zee rings but recently bought the 34mm Burris XTR (USA made) and I can't see any reason to pay more.. I also believe that the polymer inserts have many advantages other than adjustability.

Talley!! Take a look at the custom rifles featured in yearly Gun Digest’s for the past 20 years and Talley rings are by far the ring/mount of choice of top tier rifle builders.

#1 choice for ring marks thats for sure. They are a nice looking ring for sure and light weight too, but I don't care what you mount them on and how square and true they claim to be they will mark a scope every time. Next time you mount a set on a rifle set your alignment points in them and see how much they are off. You have to lap them like crazy to square them up and they will still leave a ring mark. Nothing makes me madder than rings marks on a scope that cost me a month's pay.

My 30mm were made in China. Wonder why the Chinese can’t make 34mm, or do they????

Talley rings. Can someone splain to me why these should command a $200 retail price tag? That's what the eBay listing claims it to be.

Another vote for Vortex Pro Picatinny rings. $60.00

Vortex Precision Matched rings are great but the $135 price is a bit much.

If you want perfect alignment of the rings with no marks, first lap the rings and keep the rings assigned to an action. I have have great success lining lapped rings with transparent Scotch Tape. I have numerous NightForce scopes and none of them have any ring marks.

Picatinny rails eliminate the need to lap rings. If you use a one piece Picatinny rail on a bolt action rifle you do not need to lap the rings. This assumes you are using quality CNC machined rings.
