Hey Dusty Stevens

07D509A5-62B5-4EFE-98A0-A92ED5ACACFA.jpeg Saw this road sign in Ireland a couple weeks ago. Now it reminds me of what is going on in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri. The roads in Ireland are narrow and some are really close to the coast. I think the IRA is alive and well, too.

If there was a market for them rocks, the folks in Galway and Donegal would all be rich. First time I flew into Ireland about 50 years ago, there were Sheep on the pastures around Shannon airport. Ireland was a magical place back then for a young fellow from the US. No drinking age (at least not enforced!), fresh, honest food, and very inexpensive bed and breakfast houses to boot. Not anymore. Prices over there are really crazy now.

I didn't think the prices were all that bad. Hell, it costs to go out to dinner here too. Guinness for 5 euros a pint is about what we pay in a decent place for a crap beer. We did AirBNB before we left and the prices were on a par with Patel’s Motel on an asphalt parking lot here. Being surrounded by water was right up my alley for Fish and Chips at about 10 euros most times. I did have a leg of lamb one night and that was 15 euros. It was delicious but then I felt guilty the next day.1B41D770-D4D1-4964-9EFA-CB2BC89C293C.jpeg

Border collies
As a matter of fact, we saw a massive field running uphill in an area near the Skelligs where they hold working dog trials. There was one at work with about 20 sheep. We watched until we got tired. The dog wasn’t tired but it is exhausting just watching them. I have seen the world trials held there on TV. Those dogs are outstanding.

I went to the Greyhound races once in Cork City with my Uncle's Joe and Dan, who bred racing Greyhounds. Really fun to watch, and listen to the Bookies, which I could hardly understand the accent of. They used to have live Hare hunts also, "Coursing" I think it was called. Don't know if it's still legal there. Never attended one of those events, but apparently the poor Hare gets torn to bits when caught by the dog(s).
