beautiful! you are a ways from - anywhere. that's alotta daylight in summer. that moon...

This evening I'm at my home on the ND/SD border. 90 miles SE of Dickinson. 110 miles east of Baker MT, 200 miles north of Rapid City. The state line is less than 200 yards from my house.

I enjoyed the clues you laid out in the earlier post. I've lived within the boundaries of your clues for over 40 years and would hate to have to move out of them.

Prairie dogs 15 minutes south of my home but I haven't shot one in several years. Too busy match shooting and making a living.

This is a little lake on the ND side where we took some family pictures this evening. 10 minutes from the house.

I'm kind of rambling on but your thread reminded me of how fortunate I am to live and work where I do.
Thanks!

.
Hey I brought a Coyote Jake rotating bench out "here" for few years. Course I built my own benchtop. wow, heavy. a superb bench. solid in all regards. stays home...
For me - walking few miles with a rifle or two, mat, bipod, 2 qts water, binos, + 2 rear bags 100 rds ammo- was better.
Just to feel this place. cactus, dirt, scoria, cheatgrass. cow poop. the odd rattler. looking for that $1.00 ea - formed brass - in the tan grass. My rotating bench is on standby. :)

Sir, you are living a dream.
Winter - a much colder dream.
Not are up for your earned life.

Here's a letter from a single woman that welcomed me to shoot on her ranch 2011- near Medora ND. Some hard times - the next winter.
Expect you'd understand this feeling.

"Happy Holidays B
What a nice surprise!
Thanks so much for the coffee & truffles-two of my favorites!
It couldn't haven't come at better time-I've got cabin fever right now.
We've been experiencing a severe winter storm for the last few days. 40 mph winds.
bringing the wind chill to minus 35/40 below.
Thank God one of my sons was out here and could help me "dig out".
It's been quite a challenge- we worked on ot al day yesterday.
Our Christmas was spent "in the house"and concentrating on keeping the wood burner going
in case the power went out.
The neighbor got a six point bull elk out here ten min after season started.
So that was exciting
We got a 4X4 whitetail buck deer so I spent
alot of time making sausage.
Well, thanks again again for the "nice surprise."
God Bless b- Judy BXXXXXX.

Bit late replying... Yes, that Coyote Jake bench is made to a high standard. Welds, design, powder coat paint, feet that swivel. I think this is the pinnacle of bench design. SS hardware, even! I bought mine from from a fellow shooter - in the field, oddly enough. He was leaving and I commented on it and we made a deal out there in ND. Of course I made my own top, it must weight 75 lbs. very very steady.
