Henry lever action rimfire rifles

Bought a Henry lever action .22LR a few months ago. The lever action is very smooth. I was amazed by how accurate it was with just iron sights. Hit a beer can 100 yards no prob. I bought a Nikon prostaff 3x9 scope last week and put it on it. Went shooting this weekend and it shot awesome! More accurate than my Ruger 10/22. That lever action is so much fun too! Its alot more safe and doesnt jam like the semi-auto's. Wont buy any other rimfire but Henry for now on! Think I might get a .17hmr or a .22mag sometime soon. Anybody else extremely impressed with Henry rifles?

Well since you asked, those Henry's are some of the nicest looking rifles made. And the smoothness of the action is certainly notable and very nice. One of the guys at my gun club shows up every now and then with three or four of them and has a ball shooting 'em. The downside of Henrys is the price and for me, I hate to get one of those pretty things dirty. If money were no issue, I'd probably get me a few Henrys just to look at. But each to his own and it's nice to see folks be happy with what they buy to shoot. Enjoy that pretty rifle as they sure are nice all around.

I have two Henry .22 rifles. The classic .22 lever that has that annoying front post sight which I could have replaced with a bead sight I suppose and this Golden Boy which I bought at Cabelas years ago when they were having a gun sale. This one was only $240.00 at that time. Today I have seen them listed as up to $500.00 which I find to be high but then again so are a lot of things these days. It’s very accurate and smooth, wood is beautiful. The only thing different on them today is the addition of a brass barrel band. IMG_0557.jpeg

Had two Henrys. A 22 mag and a 45 Colt. Got rid of them both. Just not a lever action fan. But I was impressed with the quality of product. Highly recommend them if you want a cowboy type rifle.

My wife always tells me I married her for her Henry. Shes got a sweet shooting .22lr and I recently picked up a nickel plated octagon barrel Evil Roy in 22 mag that is absolutely stunning.

I have never seen a Henry but given their popularity they must be a quality firearm. I do own a Marlin Golden Mounty which was made in the early sixties. The accuracy has always been acceptable ,but the thing
that has always impressed me was the machine work on the two piece receiver. The fitment is excellent and something you won't find today in a lever action 22.

Here’s the question I have: how is the trigger?

I’ve been eyeballing the 357 big boy carbine side gate.

I never measured mine but typical lever action pull, there not a competition rifle by any means . There fun and plenty accurate for pop cans and hunting

The Winchester I shot once had a gritty take up followed by a tremendous amount of creep/spongy feel before it broke at what seemed like random spots in the pull. For a long time it put me off lever guns because, while accurate enough, it just wasn’t pleasant to use.

I have big boy side gate in 44. It’s a nice rifle, but the trigger is terrible. There are shim kits that along with some polishing are supposedly to help, but I have went there yet.

The aluminum in the receiver is very soft. There is no anodizing to harden the parts. I had one replaced as after about 5K rds it ate up the insides from the steel bolts and the soft aluminum. I sold it after it was replaced as I did not want to do that again. It took forever to get replaced.

i tried a 22 mag henry. slickest action i ever had. a pop can at 20 yds was safe. if you hit it you got lucky.
i have quite the stash of ammo left over from testing. a dozen boxes with only 10 missing.

I had the same problem with my .22 mag. It would key hole bullets at 25 yards.
They sent me a return label and two weeks later I had it back with a new barrel. It’s now a 1.5 MOA rifle at 100 yards.
You can’t beat their warranty and customer service.

I must have had a good one. Plain H001 in 22LR, excellent trigger and quite accurate. The only criticism I'd have would be the front sight post being too low, the rifle always shot high at 25 yds.
I took a file to the rear sight and lowered the notch until it shot to point of aim with the elevator all the way down.
Fed slick as snot, unless you had the rifle tipped to one side.
It's gone to a new home a few years ago now, there are days I regret not keeping it.

In 2006 or 7 someone gave me a coupon for a H001L at Walmart for about $210 bucks. The animals were totally out of control here so I got one. When I got it the trigger was pretty heavy so I called Henry and Anthony answered the phone. When I told him what I had he said he would have the guys hand hone parts and mail them to me at no charge, Its been a good rifle, I'm on my 8th case of 5k rounds thru it 85% all fired out of the house window. I keep it loaded with one in the chamber so all I have to do is pull the hammer back, I don't ever remember a failure to fire or feed smooth as silk. I have 2 older 39A's and a Mountie but its the Henry that gets used.
