Henderson Case Trimmer

Looking forward to it. One of my major concerns with the Henderson so far.
My friend (squirrelman) opted to weld together thinner stock of aluminum instead of using the thicker stock I gave him to use. He wanted to make a prototype first. So here is a pic of what he put together from my "plans".

He screwed a flat plate under the carriage, to which he tig welded a vertical tab to hold the micrometer die - to which he drilled and tapped for a 7/8" standard die body. The die shown in the photo is an unused Hornady New Dimension seating die. I bought a micrometer top for it on Amazon for about $35.00 which is not shown in the photo. Square aluminum tube makes up the "feet". Also not shown in the photo are plastic caps for the square tubing ends which were also bought on Amazon.

A few different lengths of threaded-end rod were made up (with locking nut (as shown in photo) which stop inside the seating die and cover short to long cases. There is a lot of adjustment in the seating die as well.

Finally, there is the aluminum stop "L" bracket.

We will see how this works out and possibly make a refined version.

The most expensive item in making this is the drill and tap for the die body hole. I bought mine on Amazon.

Hope this helps you folks out who are wanting to add a micrometer to your trimmers.

I was told by the folks at Henderson today that they acknowledged a lot of requests for a micrometer. They have worked up a prototype, though not sure if it will be an add-on accessory or only for newer versions of the trimmer. Those thinking of buying the trimmer might want to email them to determine whether they might want to wait.

Has anyone thought about trying the micrometer from the L.E. Wilson trimmer? It seems like this would be close to what is needed here with the bolt running through the middle.

On every cartridge, I size with fl bushing, mandrel, trim. No problems ever. Henderson is perfect.

Giraud? Never heard of her? Sounds French.

I thought about adding some sort of micrometer adjustment to mine, but it was working just fine with the supplied screws and stop nuts.

But now I will go take a closer look...

I had the issue of neck being too tight, a small strip of 400 sand paper on pilot while machine was running took care of that In short order. The trimmer is pricy but well worth it.

I just got a Henderson trimmer and so far I just love it. I printed your idea here and I will keep it if I ever need to do it. So far once trimmed 223 but I have the parts for 308 and 6.5 Creedmoor. Your idea has officially been stolen!

Please explain. I am not seeing it.
i noticed it on mine today, the collet was for a 6.5 creed. When i hold the case against the collet and wind it in to tighten, you can feel and see the wobble as you turn the handle. Thus producing the uneven chamfer. The collet for my ppc does not do it. I may have to buy a new collet for the 6.5 creed and see if that improves.
