Help with walnut gunstock blanks

I was wondering if anybody could help me find a place to buy an Exhibtion grade walnut stock blank big enough to make a benchrest style stock? 3 inch wide forend. I would be greatfull for the help. Im buliding a show piece bench rifle for my dad. He spent years in the lumber business and would truely love a piece like this. Thanks again.

I built my Fclass gun i a walnut stock 2 years ago and i had trouble finding blanks it that size range as well. I finally found one at http://www.clarowalnutgunstocks.com/. I got a beautiful piece of Claro that was 3in thick from them, I think mine was a supreme full fancy grade. My best advise is to call or email the owner (Wally) and see what he has in inventory in the 3in thick range. Wally is a great guy and is really easy to work with. Hopefully he will have some thing for you (his prices are generally really good to).

Take a look at multi layer hardwood stocks. They can be had already glued and they look amazing. I am working on one that I got from here a while back.
