Help with Rifle Basix Sav-2 trigger install.

I'm trying to put it in a Savage single shot top bolt release action. After install, I can't get the bolt in or out of the action. I actually have 2 Savage receivers and it works in one and not the other. Anyone else have a similar issue? I've tried swapping safety levers and sears with no luck. I'm stumped.

Thanks, Dave

I had this issue with my last SAV 2 install. It was an issue with the part of the sear that contacts the cocking piece pin. That part of the sear came to a sharper point and was longer than I had ever seen. It appears that Savage had changed the geometry.

I was able to switch triggers with another rifle and get it to work.

The SAV 2 has 3 different holes for the trigger pivot. You might try using a different one and see if that helps.

If that doesn't work, contact Rifle Basix. A new sear bar might help.

It has been a long time since I installed one of those triggers but I think that I may have taken the part that sticks up through the slot in the bottom of the RH bolt raceway down just enough so that I could get the bolt release to work. There was still plenty to hold the cocking piece on the bolt. I would call Rifle Basix and check with them. Incidentally, I was the one who gave the original owner the idea of making a video on how to install that trigger. He wanted to make it easier for a customer to install it, rather than having to pay a gunsmith, but he thought that, given the number of steps, that written instructions might be a challenge to understand, for the average gun owner.

The bolt stop and sear are the same piece on a Savage. If the bolt won't go in the trigger must not be releasing the sear to allow it. Safety/over travel screws need adjustment maybe?
I thought your idea had merit but it didn't work.

The trigger pivot point made no difference. The sear is hitting a pivot stop built in to the intermediate trigger lever.

I've left a message with RB but I'm guessing they may be on vacation. It's that time of year.

I got your PM, thank you. I've taken a few thousands off the top of the part that sticks up. I can tell it's helping but now I'm concerned with cocking the bolt. The "how much is too much" and will Savage send me a new sear if I go too far?

you have to remove some stock on the bottom so the trigger will slide under somewhere hell I forgot had the same issue but it's a easy fix with no worries.. take the action out pull the trigger where it stops at about the same place when removing the bolt and you will see the clearance issue

I had the same problem, I did finally get it without grinding or altering

I have a SAV-2 on my long range heavy gun. I originally bought it for a 1958 110 and it worked flawlessly on both.

BUT, on my bench rest gun, I had to open up the stock in the trigger area. It took some Dremel work before it would clear the wood and work correctly. After 4 or 5 barrels, the bench rest gun trigger still works perfect.

issue is known to rifle basix. i had contact with them over a year ago and they sent me a replacement part (intermediate lever). the one supplied with the sav-2 would not allow the sear to rotate far enough into the trigger housing. i think i still had to 'massage' a couple of these to get them to work. i have several sav-2's btw.

i was told, iirc, i could either alter the part i had (reduce the nose) or wait briefly for the replacement to arrive.

this is all posted from memory, so buyer beware... lol
