Help With Learning MS Excel For Plotting Reloading Data

So, for a number of years now, I’ve wanted to learn Excel, to be able to plot my reloading data.

I have absolutely no expierence with the program, I’m old and really not a tech wizard. Was wondering, if anyone who was a beginner with Excel, found any particular book, or video series, or whatever that helped you learn Excel from scratch. A book, program, or video series, that you can say really helped you learn the software from nothing.

Thanks so much folks.

I am happy to help with this. There is no reason to pay for anything, especially a community college course. You can find basic and advanced excel info with a simple google search of what you’re trying to do.

“Find average of data set in excel”
“Average a column or row in excel”
“How to calculate standard deviation in excel”

It all takes practice! If you have questions, give me a call 419-310-2441. If I don’t answer, leave me a message and I will call you back!

Had a 2 day class for work, about 10 years ago. Instructor told us the then current version of Excel had 16 software engineers develop it, and not one of the individuals new ALL of excel.
My wife is very proficient so she is me mentor now.

I did one for cost savings of reloading. Send me a PM of what you need as far as inventory and maybe I can make one for you. I am an old guy too but have dicking with computers since 1980 and use to write code when C+ first came out.

Thanks, at this very moment I don’t have any data, I have to do the testing. Since I’m down with pneumonia at the moment, I thought that I might use this time to learn it a bit.

Thanks so much for your offer though.

If you are more specific about exactly what you intend to use Excel for, post what you want and probably someone has already created something close enough to start with.

I use Excel to record my loads, and the results. I also use it for calculating ES and SD from my chrono (since when shooting round robin I can't use the chrono to calculate it for me). Just examples.

You are probably right. What I’m looking for are simple line graphs for my testing dealing with seating depth, or powder. Perhaps velocity on the y axis, then powder load, or seating depth, along the x axis. Very basic. I just want to be able to look graphs for possible nodes and just general examination of how a load, or seating depth affects my velocity. Is this something that you might have done in the past?

Thanks

This charting of information is really great!

I found a little app called “Chartistic” that may do what I need, as it’s really not a whole lot. I’m kind of playing around with it now, seems very easy to use.

I have much more expertise with MS Word than I do Excel. But creating graphs is very straightforward. If you list a data set you would like graphed, someone should be able to create the graph and you could just update the input variables for your different needs.
