As I'm sure most here are all to familiar with the internet is a great sourse of information, but it also is full of immense amounts of incorrect and often misleading information published by people who for what ever reasons post less than honest and unbiased opinions.
No worse is this issue than with optics, hence the wording of the title of my post.
With in my budget I can afford a Conquest V4 4-14x44mm and are only concerned about two things.
Tracking and durability. I have researched both extensively and my data indicates the V4 is a good reliable scope. I did do a search here and read a good in depth review but that was only a single review and I would like more info before I buy.

I am most interested in the Zeiss V4 Conquest as it meets my requirements, I love the #94 ZMOA-2 reticle and although its at the top end of my affordability, it is with in my price range. I'd LOVE to buy a higher end scope like a NF NXS but with two sons heading off to collage (one to engineering the other nursing) soon needing cars and God only know$ how much more of my money I have to be as frugal as I can.

I would greatly appreciate if any of the members here who own Conquest V4's could please share with me their experiences on how well their V4 Conquests especially the 4-16x44 with exposed adjustable elevation turret tracked, held and returned to zero.

My primary purpose for the scope will be hunting and trying to become proficient out to 700 yards.
It will sit on a Tikka T3 300wsm and also possibly other magnum rifles I own like my 338wm and 7mm stw so recoil durability has to be a must.

First... I don't think you will get a lot of help from people you already threw under the bus...
second you will never get proficient at 700 yds with a 300wsm, 338wm and 7mm stw in a sporter, you will never stand the recoil. I wouldn't worry about a scope now I would get a lighter recoiling rifle and see if you can get proficient with it at 700 yds with it. then use a 300wsm only, they flat shoot but with a sporter I would look at a more realistic range limited 500 or less because you have no idea how much the wind will move that bullet, let alone know how to read it.... jim

So I thank you for your input.
But allow me to offer you some helpful advice. It is wise the man who makes not assumptions or speaks in generalities of a person or persons they know absolutely nothing about. That fault is usually reserved for members of the current DemRAT party.
I understand you beliefs concerning recoil as they do apply to my best guess 70-80% of people who shoot rifles. But I am among the 20% or lower that recoil is truly a non factor.
I grew up shooting heavy recoiling shotguns and from my first deer season at 19 and for the next 21 deer seasons I shot 12ga 2.75" magnum and 3" magnum 1oz and 1.375oz Foster slugs. I am an unabashed lover of shooting of all things that go boom or launch an arrow.

As such I quickly became an accuracy fanatic and bought my first RCBS reloading kit at 23, and have invested more $$$ in reloading equipment than I will ever allow myself to consider. Unfortunately for me there were no components available to reload 12 gauge Foster or Sabot slug ammunition at that time. When they did become available they did not offer me the accuracy or performance i wanted so Subsequently I had to contend with shooting 100% factory 12ga Foster Slug ammo.
In my quest for becoming as good a shot as I could be to the pitiful maximum effective range of 12ga Foster ammunition, I would often shoot 30 or more rounds from the bench at a sitting then usually an equal amount using the same form as if I were hunting . Then along came 12ga Saboted ammunition. Specifically Winchester Partition Gold Sabot ammo which I literally shot 100s of, fallowed by Lightfield and hundreds more rounds fired. In my quest for the ultimate slug ammo and rifle combo I invested in three different slug specific rifles, a Marlin 512 that I had Basner custom rifles (he specialized at that time in custom shotguns for deer and turkey) crown the muzzle, do a trigger job, and glass bed the action. Then I bought a NEF 920 tracker, then finally a Browning 12ga A-Bolt gun.

In short Except for Mr. Dave Henderson, I know NO ONE personally who has shot half as many let alone more 12ga Foster and Sabot ammo than me. Same goes for all my belted and single non-belted magnums. I also own a 300wsm, 300wm, 7mmSTW, T/C Encore .50 cal Magnum ML, Knight .5o cal ML's and a Savage 10ML-II smokeless ML and the loads I shoot from it launch a 245grn and 290-325grn projectiles at a MV of 2550-2850 FPS with recoil equal to that of shooting a 375 H&H magnum and I literally shot countless of these loads from the bench. When I shoot my 308win, 6.5x55 Swede or my 35 Remington's it's like shooting 22lr to me.
My best performing load from my 10ML-II was a .458" 300grn Barnes SSP in a Harvester Black crushed ribbed sabot over 68 grains of H-4198 with a chrono graphed confirmed MV of 2570 FPS for an average of 5 shots. I did have loads that pushed that same projectile to over 2800 FPS/MV but they weren't as accurate.

I admit for a very brief time I did try out a Cawldwell Lead Sled. But after a few range sessions I quickly learned that it had a detritus affect on your rifle's POI VS when you shoot it off hand, using normal bench rest bags or from any other rest, so I S-canned it. I also found out the Lead Sled was hell on scopes.

I will openly admit of all the heavy recoiling rounds I have shot I did FINALLY meet my match that forced me to use as much shoulder padding as I could and still shoot accurately to allow me to shoot rounds 10-30 at a single range session. These rounds were 12ga 3.5" magnum 2oz of #5 shot turkey loads. Believe me when I say you have not experienced real punishing recoil until you launch close to 2.75oz's of ejecta at 1200 FPS from a 7lb 870 whos stock is among if not the worst designs for helping to magnify the affects of harsh recoil.

So in short recoil is not a factor for me until I surpass 35 or so rounds from the bench of my 300wsm Tikka which is by far due to it's weight my heaviest recoiling rifle. I can not explain it recoil just doesn't bother me that much.
