Help With Frozen Scope Lock Ring

I have a Leupold Scope with the Eyepiece frozen to the Lock Ring , and I need to adjust the Reticle sharp for my eye . I have tried a dozen times to break it free by hand and that just won't work . The Lock Ring sticks up a small amount above the surrounding metal , and I think if I use a strip of rubber and some narrow pliers I could break it free .....but this would be tricky and would probably destroy the Lock Ring . Does anyone have any safer suggestions on how to loosen this set-up ? Heat or Cold maybe ..... and exactly how to apply same ? Any type of penetrating lube which might work ? TIA .

hey try a TINY amount of kroil w a needle oiler. bet this would work...
or put in freezer. use a thin neoprene pad, or gasket material to aid grip on the ring.

I use those rubber exerciser straps .I cut them in thin strips for the lock ring and wider for the eye piece. Amazing the grip you can get. If you can't get it with these I would send it in as mentioned...although I have I stooped as low as a pipe wrench before. Actually works quite well if you are careful, just line the teeth up with the lockring .I used the wrench as the "vise" and used the band on the eye piece. Not recommending.

Try grabbing the eyepiece by hand and turning as opposed to the lock ring. Has worked for me on the really tight ones. Good luck.

How would you feel about putting it in your freezer overnight?
