Help with case prep of 6x45

Ok i am new to the 6x45. My rifle is built I just need some ammo!!!

I have 200 lapua .223 brass on the way. I have a redding 2 die set.

My question is about the case prep. I know I have to neck the .223 with the sizing die. My question is when I need to trim the case how do I go about doing that?

What trimmer do you recommend? Is the gracey practical for this wild cat case? Is there one trimmer better than another for the type of case?

When i get said trimmer do i get a .223 for the case head and what size do I get for the case mouth, 6mm?

Any help is appreciated. I really like examples of what others are currently using.A shopping list is even better

Sevo,

Necking up generally shortens the neck, so I would shoot them once first, then trim to even them all to the shortest length.

I would get a Sinclair case trimmer. I use those and their case holders for all my 'good' brass, and a Lyman for the rest. Even then, I never use the pilot in the case mouth. I can't stand the scoring they leave inside the necks.

Be sure to put a light chamfer on the inside of the necks and lube as well, prior to necking up. If you have a 223 sizer, it may help to run the 223 expander in the necks first before going to 6mm, especially if the 6mm expander ball is not tapered.

I am going to order the Sinclair's Ultimate Trimmer with the .223 shell holder

What length do you trim yours to?

I was told to trim to 1.750' What do you think of that?


What powder do you like to load in yours?

I am going to use Sierra 85Gr Hp. Any recommendations. What do you think hodgdon 1000? Have you used this before?

May l suggest the Sinclair case trimmer and sinclair expander mandrel die. Oh yeah, everybody reloads 6x45. It's a wildcat.
