Help with A&D FZ-200i scale

Just recently bought one of thease scales s/h which would not function when first setup would just display error 1 message however after inspecting internal calibration weight & boards and re assembling the scale came back to life and will now read weight and complete Internal calibration procedure but if a weight is left on weigh pan over time the display weight reading keeps dropping and continues to drop until re-zeroed, has anyone knowledge with thease scales and what fault could be and cost of fault thanks.

Email sent to A&D must be closed till newyear, Does it sound like a fault with the weight cell once a scales display readout keeps dropping over time, E.g a weight of 50 grammes was placed on scale which read 50.003 grammes but 7 hours later with same 50 gramme weight left on pan reads 43.004 grammes, funny thing is the scale seems to self calibrate and weigh charges once rezero pressed every time between weighing charges but unsure of accuracy and repeatability with scale due to load drift over few hours any ideas/ suggestions appreciated.

One thing you should know is NONE of the scales are made to work that way i.e. with a heavy weight on it sitting for 7 hours....

Your question so is pretty irrelevant to the normal operation of the scale which is to maintain zero when there is no weight on it and to give you an accurate weight when you put something on it for a brief period before removing it. It's a little like asking if the horn of a car will stay on for 7 hours without failure.

Some error codes are easy and self explanatory like with engine codes in your car, do a Google search and see what pops up.. I think it was something obstructing the load cell, not allowing it to read (probably Styrofoam)..

My friends sartorius scale doesnt start readout drift after couple of mins hence the question, 7 hour trial was to determine how much weight drift there was over time, Repeated same trial with friends sartorius scale which is about same age and quality the weight reading was same as when placed on pan seven hours previously which would indicate a fault is present with my scale and reason for Relevant post, maybe someone else has encountered similar fault with their scale and willing to share their insight with possible fault etc, your post is pretty irrelevant.

How well does the scale work when you:

- let it normalize in a proper environment
- zero it
- place a weight that is within the normal range of the scale on the pan and take the reading
- remove the weight

Thanks for info Ray, scale did initially show error 1 code but after a while the error 1 code disappeared and scale would self calibrate after i removed underside of scale and checked a few components like capacitors and the 3 PCB, I did notice a couple of small plastic clips that hold the wiring onto scale frame had come off and after re fitting them the scale would self calibrate and zero so maybe they were part of fault however the reading even with light weight does continue to drift even over short periods so maybe another clip loose in scale causing fault? thanks for reply.

My A&D FX-120i has been excellent since I bought it over a year ago, so I'd be fairly confident when it comes to this brand name. It's my understanding that the FX-120i doesn't use the same load cell technology that most of the lower priced reloading scales use, so perhaps that renders my experience irrelevant. However, I leave my scale plugged into an UPS at all times. The balance isn't turned on, but there's power to it 24-7. I don't experience much drifting with it unless there's a fair bit of wind blowing - this old house was built in 1909, so even the basement reloading room is subject to drafts.

I have both a A&D 120i and a Gempro 250 and they both come (using the 120i nomenclature) with a pan support that is attached to the scale and a weighing pan that fits on top of of the pan support. My question is should I remove the weighing pan from on top of the pan support when the scale is not in use? Would this be leaving unnecessary weight on the scale when it is not in use?

Very good point, draft can be a factor

My directions said to remove the pan when not in use
