Help with a 30 BR 'plinker'

I don't compete, yet) but if I was to get a barrel to make into a 30 BR using the Nolser 125BT bullets what twist would be advisable? Is the 17 twist I see mentioned the way to go. Would it be OK to use 110 grain bullets in the17 twist too?

Thanks,
Bruce

A 17 twist will work great. Don't overlook the Speer 125gr TNT bullet for your plinking, some even shoot it in matches. I can't imagine a more accurate factory bullet for the 30BR. I've shot some incredibly small groups with it. It's also very inexpensive compared to the Nosler, or any good 30cal bullet for that matter.

Thanks for asking this Question -I was wondering it myself.

I have a .30 cal 1:13.5 or 1:14 Full bore barrel that I was going to cut down and try as a 30 BR.
The barrel is currently 30 inches - What length do you think I should trim it down to for a "plinker"?? I'd like to get it down to LV weight so i can compete in both classes.

What projectile weights could I try with this faster twist??

I was hoping that I might be able to get projectiles in the 155-175 weight range at usefull velocities for 100, 200, 300 and maybe 500 yard comps.
This is going to be a fun plinking and learning technique rifle with.

What can people suggest??

With the small case capacity and large bore would I be able to use faster rifle powders or very slow pistol powder??
I'm thinking of R7 or W 296 or maybe 2400 or N110 or 120 if I can find some.
I have a bult jug of 10X but as thats slower than H4198 I'm not sure how it will go- suggestions please??

Thanks
later
