30 BR

I have 5 or 600 155gr match kings and would like to know if any one shot a bullet this heavy in a 30 BR with a 14 twist. I bought these Sierra Palma bullets to shoot F class, but could not get them to shoot the way I wanted/needed to compete, Would like to use them up. Have two 30's that shoot great with 116gr and 125gr now.

They might work or they might be too long. You should try a few. I tried the Sierra 125s in a 17 twist 30br. They were too long and keyholed. Your 14 might work but I’d wonder what velocity you’ll get.
I have a lot of the 125s if you want to do a trade. I built a Palma chambered 308 for a kid I mentor. We don’t compete . The gun likes the Sierra 155s for shooting out to 500. Send me a pm if you’are interested.

Cast bullets up to 185 or a bit more are shot in a 14 twist.

Cast bullet barrels usually get a special throating, so that doesn't happen.

I obviously didn't phrase my question correctly. I was not interested in the twist rate, but in the case capacity. As for cast bullets, I have two 30 cal cast bullet rifles,shooting 200 gr bullets, and yes they are throated deeper for the cast bullets.

I had a friend that shot 150 and 155 bullets in the 39 br. THay shot very well in his rifle. I shot a 30 br with a 15 twist that handled the 130 gr bullets very well.
They were my own made on 1 inch jackets. The case capacity is enough, but velocity is down quote a bit Check out Barns book on the 308 1 inch and a half.
Its bascly the same as the 30 BR.

It shot as well as my 30 Br with a 15 twist did with my custom 130 gr bullets.
The case capacity is enough. Check out barns book on the 308x1 1/2 Its almost the same as the 30 BR case
several loads are in there with IMR 4198

Its a 308 shortened to 1.5” they did back in the 50’s or so. Then came the 30br and it was forgotten.

Frank Barnes designed the .308X1.5” cartridge. No connection with Barnes Bullets.
