Help Reloading for a 6BRX Please!

My standard procedure for my current rifles goes something like this. K&M Expanderon,Next I neck turn,Seat a bullet, and measure making sure I have 2/1000 clearance,IE. 292nk = .290 loaded...I have been useing Redding FL ,S bushing type dies, and a Wilson chamber type seater. By the way, this BRX chamber is a .269 nk... So how far down the neck do I turn to .267?.. I,m guessing that I dont want to turn it down past the "not yet established" neck /shoulder junction??? Then, do I just adjust my die up away from the shell holder and use a 6BR die? And also will a Wilson chamber type seater in 6BR work? Is there a good article around here to guide me in the proper direction. As always your help is greatly appreciated! Thank You , Larry.

I have a BRX. I fireform my brass first then neck turn my brass. Your brass will fit over the mandrel without having to expand it and the neck length will already be established. I would take a .001 off at this point. Don't change your setting on your tool. After shooting a second time, turn it again, this will take any abnormalities off the neck without cutting any deeper. I don't turn again after the second time and my brass maintains .001-002 concentrency with light but even neck tension. Do your measurements to fit your chamber. I try to stay not more than .002 clearance around the neck in the chamber. I shot the same brass all last year and haven't had any split necks yet. I jump my bullets so I may be able to get away with a little less tension without worring about pulling a bullet out of the case if I have to extract a shell. It sounds like you are using the new Lapua Blue Box. If you are, and you have old Lapua Brass, measure each with a bullet seated. You'll see a difference between the two diameters at the neck.

I think if your using the new blue box brass you will be fine fireforming first. My loaded rounds measure .2678". BUT if your using brass from gold cardboard boxes loaded rounds will be closer to .270".

If you are using the old cardboard boxed brass I would trade someone for some new thinner stuff. I'm sure people would be standing in line to trade you. I know I have 200 new ones that i would trade.

6mmBRX

No neck turn chamber .271-.272 chamber

Lapua 6mm BR Brass unturned

Neck Sizing bushing .266

Seat bullets into rifling .015

Good Fireforming load Wolf SR Magnum primers, CCI 450, Remington 7 1/2

29.5 Grains of Varget

Loaded brass will be about .268

For turned neck chamber/cases adjust down the necessary amount.

Thanks again for the replies, I didn't know you could fireform in a tight neck chamber before neck turning the brass. I for some reason was under the impression it would cause high pressure. So back the load off? As for my die set up, am I correct with my normal procedure?
