Help pick out a Case trimmer for br brass

I've tried a couple others with crank, too slow. Been using an RCBS trim pro for close to 30yrs. The thing just works great. Don't mess with Cerrosafe for chamber length. As was mentioned, get a Sinclair chamber length plug for every caliber you have and it'll show you exactly the chamber length. And as was also mentioned, unless you've spec'd your own reamer to the brass, chamber length will be enough longer that you'll never need to trim, and wish you could add to the brass.
 
Way back when I started loading I had a Forster case trimmer which like many used pilots. I noticed that the brass trimmings got between the pilot and the inside of the case neck, which showed up on the finish. About that time I discovered Wilson trimmers that do not use a pilot, and discovered that they were pretty much universally used by the short range benchrest crowd. I bought one and used it for years. It stll works just fine. More recently I have been using some trimmers that register off of case shoulders. I like that because the most important thing is that the amount of neck from shoulder to case mouth is what the chamber "sees" as the round is being fired.
The least expensive of the trimmers that register off of the shoulder are single caliber. I have one, but my favorite is the one made by PMA tool, which adapts to just about any caliber. It allows for very precise adjustment and does a good job of trimming.
 
I know the Henderson isn’t in the stated budget. I’d reevaluate the budget or save up until it was in the budget. Trimming sucks. Now I do it every time and it doesn’t suck. I guess it comes down to what your time is worth.
 
Even measuring new brass has some different lengths. Not much at all I know. I got four promising bench guns with 5 different batches of brass. Say I have 500 pieces about need to be gone through. I know If I do it one time. At least I'll know then it's a area in my reloading process that is covered.

I make my own max chamber length guage.
Use a fired, neck sized case. Cut half the neck off with dremel cutoff wheel. De-burr and chamfer both the cutoff piece and case neck. Dremel stone the inside of the cutoff piecs so that it has just enough neck tention to slip over a bullet ( about .001" neck tension). Seat a bullet in the case and slip the cutoff piece on the bullet long. Chamber measure and repeat.
 
I'd say of those three, pick whatever one you want they are probably all the same quality. Do you have a gift card to bass pro or somthing? If that's your reasoning then go for whatever, but if not, I'd save your pennies and get a Wilson. I have a Wilson, and it's fantastic.
 
Get a Wilson, Had/still have a lyman with the quick chuck or what ever its called but it is no where near as consistent as the Wilson. Place a WTB ad in classifies for a Wilson. Lot of people have gone on to other type trimmers, for speed mostly, and the Wilson can be found pretty reasonable sometimes. I found mine here or over on RFC and it had the micro adjust, stand, base, and 10 or 12 case holders for $125 shipped but thats been 5/6 years ago. I had the lyman put back in case my son or one of the nieces or nephews showed some interest in getting into reloading but would sell it if you have your heart set on one... Has all the pilots plus one for 17cal.... I would guess less than 100 cases been cut with it...
 
Ive got 4 or 5 of different trimmers , all about the same . But I always go back to the original LEE . The one with the mandrel that goes in the case and thru the primer hole . I can easily modify the length to suit each chamber . Easy , inexpensive and a positive repeatable result.

Dang, I just made my mind up on a Wilson, and I see this. That carries some weight.
I think I understand what you're talking about.
I'll give that one another look. Video vise.
