Help new fullbore shooter set up MO’s front

Being rather poor and starting out, I purchased a lot of target front sight gear mainly to get the 22 mm front elevation adjustable MO’s front. What came with is a mix and match of clear 22 mm front apertures which will not go in the base tube, a couple of eagle eyes with threaded piece and the base it self. What do I need to get this on the go? I would be happy with some steel aperture inserts to use with one of the eagle eyes. I am in Canada See pics for what I have .

Do the inserts go in the short tube on the left? There needs to be something to keep the apertures in though. The aperture inserts should go in the front end of the sight and the eagle eyes in the back.

They do fit in it but not snugly nor is there anything for the inserts cut out to register against. One end of the short tube will take the eagle eye but the other end is too large.

Do you see this little cutout? That ring should spin out of there but you will need a tool for it. A snap ring pliers may work, a dial caliper or you can get a tool for it. Pull that ring out and put the aperture you want in it and then put the ring back in.
I think I mispoke before. The eagle eye lens should screw into the front(muzzle end) of the sight body and out the aperture in the back of the sight body toward you.

I just looked at the picture in the corner again and the sight apertures look like they're from a tiger sight. That was a different sight than the mo defina sight and the one ring is meant to thread on to the sight body and hold the the discs in.
You may have mixed stuff that won't work together.

Yes I believe it is mixed parts. The only thing I have which threads into the MO’s is the two eagle eyes.
Will be shopping for a few bits.
What is the consensus on the variable iris type apertures?

The gehmann and centra ones are both good. What is your sight radius? Get the crossbar one, its cheaper. You can use a piece of duct tape for a sun shade if youre short on money but i would recommmend them. With a 0.3 diopter I can use a 3-5mm iris and with a 0.5 i use a 4-6mm.
You want plenty of area visible around the bullseye. I usually can see the entire target frame in my iris at 1k.
There is a Canadian on ebay called nikkonos. I have ordered from him and got good service shipping to the states. I wouldn't bother with the aperture discs, they are durable but not cheap and too big of pain to change at different distances, for different conditions

From my rear iris to the slot for the front steel insert is 36 1/2”
I have shot a 3.4 front insert @ 900m and bracketed the frame corner to corner in the aperture.
I don’t have a diopter in my rear sight. I wanted to keep it simple as I could. I do like the crossbar style. Is the front iris aperture where I need the sunshade? I can get anti glare tubes for 22mm local is this the same thing?

Yes, sun shades are the same as the anti glare tube. It looks like a t from the side. I like one on the front too just get keep junk from getting on the lens.
Fullbore is tough enough and since you already have the lenses for the front and unless you're 22 yrs old , your eyes will thank you. You don't need one for the rear. Your sight radius is just fine. I don't know anyone who has ever wished they got a smaller front iris. Using the lens in front of the iris is the reason for the bigger opening. The gehmann 520b goes up to 6mm or so.
The front sight should be pretty big and keep the rear iris, if it's adjustable fairly small and about 1.5 inches from your eye. The gehmann 510 is about the cheapest adjustable rear iris there is and it works pretty well. You want enough light to come into your eye through the rear sight to be able to see you front sight clearly. The bull will be unfocused but when you look at the front sight but you should be able to see it fairly clearly if you try too look at it.
Gehmann irises seem to have better compatibility with other sight parts(at least with my 30mm sights) compared to the centra.

I have the 510 and like it. Thank you for all the help. Seems I got quite a batch of parts. There is alot more 18mm items, some Enfield front blades and an eye piece for a spotting scope

You're welcome. There are several people on the board who know even more and maybe they will chime in. Getting an iron sight setup has gotten difficult enough here, I imagine it might be even worse for you. If a 30mm front sight becomes available, grab it. You can see you number board and the bull. They are more expensive but worth it.
