Help needed with 6mm Rem. w/ 1 in 12 twist

I inherited a beautiful bench rest rifle in 6mm Remington that has a Hart barrel with a 1 in 12 twist. The rifle has only had 12 rounds threw it and they were factory rounds. I truly need help getting some load advice on this barrel twist since Remington changed the twist rate years ago to a 1 in 9 twist. I would love to shoot this rifle from reloads and not factory ammo, but I have no clue where to start. Everything I find are great loads for the 1 in 9 twist and nothing on the 1 in 12.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've had (and still have) several 6mm Remingtons and it's a great cartridge. My 722 had a 12" twist barrel and here are a couple bullets that worked well for me. [br]
Berger 80 grain flat base Varmint
Hornady 58 grain V-Max

I would think you would be good 80grains and under using flat based bullets primarily and the lighter bullets could be boatails if you feel you need them but if you are shooting short range benchrest the 62 -70 bergers would work well. I would just use flat based. With the 1 in 12 you will just have to try what is available. I hope you got brass with it.

Any bullet that is ~1.1" long, or shorter will do fine - that gives you a lot of room to play.

This would include ALL of the lighter bullets up to 75 grs, and the 87 V-maxs, and the 88 Berger flat based Hi BC hollow-point.

My 6mm imp. has a 1-12 twist.
I mostly use mine for varmint hunting with varmint bullets, hence the twist. The Berger 80 gr varmint bullets are tough to beat accuracy wise. The 70gr and 75gr plastic tipped vmax; ball tip; and blitzkings have also shot really well and are explosive.
For powder, VV 160 is what I use mostly and should be a good start for you or a powder with a burning rate around the 4350's.
It may depend on what you are trying to accomplish with the rifle? Shooting paper or busting varmints...
Good luck,
Gary

For accuracy, +1 on the 80 gr Berger FB varmint(#24321). Also the Berger 69 gr high BC FB varmint(#24313). Berger recommends 1 in 12" twist or faster for these two bullets. Berger recommends a 1 in 10" or faster twist for the 88 gr high BC varmint(#24323).

There are dozens of loads for 70 to 80 grain bullets in the 6mm rem on the Hodgdon web site. http://www.hodgdonreloading.com/data/rifle
