Help needed on a load for a 6ppc at 300 yds

Thud

I want to build a 6ppc that will shoot a 95 grain bib to 300 yds.
Want to shot the 95's due the bc factor
Have tried to shoot it with my dasher and lt32 powder and was having the bullets blow up.
My ppc can have any barrel I need on it.
Question is;
Is the ppc a 300 yd round and shoot the same accuracy as at 100.
Does the case have enough capacity maintain accuracy
What twist would be correct for it, I'm thinking 9 or 10.
What powder and what speed would be needed
What reamer
Or stick with a 6br or a dasher
Thanks for any input
Thud

I'm not a professional by any means.
Most PPC's are set up for 60-70gr bullets, and are very accurate out to 300 yards.
If you were looking to push 95gr or even heavier, I would likely stick to the 6BR or something with more case capacity.
That's my 2 cents

The 6ppc has broken 600 yard benchrest records but it is rare to get the good conditions for use with the light 62-70 grn bullets. Stepping up to the bigger bullets will put the PPC at a disadvantage to the 6BR, both in terms of velocity and bullet weight it can handle. I'd stick with the BR - or the lighter PPC bullets if going PPC. My thoughts anyway.

To get the most out of the 6PPC here is its default settings: http://www.accurateshooter.com/cartridge-guides/6mmppc/

Move away from these and you're into the realm of experimental. Go for it. :)

Well, I googled this and can't find anything. Could you elaborate?

Lew,,,you shuld go to a NBRSA/IBS 300 yard event and see what is being shot,,,,it will make the choice for you,,,,Roger

Thud I shoot a PPC out to 300 a good bit. My set up is the standard 13.5 or 14 twist with 64-68gr bullets typically 3350 up to 3400 sometimes. With a your ppc barrel in tune it will shoot very well at 300, I can expect my PPC's to shoot .3 MOA and under at 300yds 5 shot groups (of course the whole "I do my part blah blah"). I have shot it out to 400 and it did ok but as expected the wind can get the PPC that far out.

I will say that in my opinion though, if you plan to shoot the light bullets (64-68) I would go with a PPC everytime over a 14t br or dasher for a bench gun.

Thud,

The 95gr BiB's are great bullets. but if pushed too fast or pushed in fast tw barrel they will pop. Are you set on a PPC? What are you shootiing, group, score matches? There are a lot of options. Are wanting to shoot the 95 Bib's ? The lt32 powder is way too hot for a Dasher with heavy bullets. Try Varget, RL15, or H4895, range of powder. 10 tw is best for 95g Bib's

The 6BR 12tw with 80gr. bullets is a great long range combo see http://www.6mmbr.com/Schronce600.html

I like the 6BR and 6BRX for myself.
Good luck

Thud they were taking about this over at benchrest central just recently, might be worth looking at.

I think that twist rate will cause bullets to blow up as will speed. When I first bought a 300 ultra gota be over 10 years ago, it was blowing up 210 Bergers. The tech at Berger said that in my case the speed was to high, the twist was to fast, and the Remington barrel was most likely too rough. Ive still got a box and a half.
