HELP! Need a Simple Electric Engraver ( For Medals )

1. I belong to a club that awards medals (1. 75" Dia.) for first thru third place in Summer and Winter leagues and they're looking for an inexpensive simple electric engraver to fit this purpose. They do about 200 medals a year and currently one of the members does the engraving manually with something that looks like a pantograph with a carbide point that is owned by the club. He has refused to do any more because of his arthritis, so we are at a crossroad since no one else has volunteered to do them.
   Any suggestions would be appreciated with the exception of farming them out.

My option would be a meeting with the elder member with arthritis to see if he would be willing to teach a willing member to do what he did and possible let them borrow his engraver and stencils.
Surely, he would like to see it continue. Granted it might be to painful for him to do but, with the right approach you might find he is still willing to teach and help.

Sounds like either someone will have to step up and fill his shoes and do it or you farm them out (which you didnt want).

Buy the machine from the gentleman and find another operator. He seems to be out of business anyway.

Find a local laser engraver and hire out the work. You should be able to get the cost down to under five bucks a medal. Or buy an inexpensive unit that'll do the job. A quick search turned up this:
