Help Me Spec a 6.5 x 47 Barrel

I will be having a barrel chambered in 6.5 x 47, and would like a thumbs-up or suggestions to ensure I am on the right path.

Use: Non-competition bench target shooting at 100 and 300 yards, rarely (but hopefully more often), at 600 and 1000.

Proposed Barrel Spec:
  • Brand: Krieger, Brux, Bartlein, etc, cut-rifled barrel.
  • Contour: MTU or something with a muzzle diameter of 0.875" or so.
  • Length: 24" - 26".
  • Bullets: 120 - 130 grain bullets.
  • Twist: 1:8 twist (considering 1:8.5).
  • Chamber Neck Diameter: 0.0295" (open to revision. Not turning Lapua brass).
  • Chamber Freebore: I don't know!
If at 1000 yards, I will likely need the 139 grain bullets, which I believe puts me solidly in the 1:8 twist camp. It appears that way from the Berger twist calculator.

26 or more on the barrel,
170-180 freebore.

Any reputable barrel maker.

130 Hybrid for everything

My gun was a 28" Rem Varmint contour, 130's at 3000, which stayed supersonic to 1550 yards, and I shot them to 1850. .123" freebore is perfect for the 123/130 class bullet, and still stays within the confines of a 2.800" Rem box with room to spare.
