Help me decide???

Ok this doesn't exactly fit what the title of this category says but seemed to be a good place for it since it didn't fit the others either.

I have a fluted stainless .25 bore barrel laying around bought it on a whim and thought I needed a .25 bore gun for some reason. Anyway I've been thinking on the 257 Weatherby or the 25-284. I'm not hung on either cartridge but to me they are both seemingly unusual and that part of it interests me. Any opinions welcome. This will be more of a hunting rifle but I will play at the 600 yard steel occasionally.

Well I don't know a whole bunch about different 25 calibers but I love the hell out of just a straight 25-06. I really want to try a 25-06 improved though. I'm interested to see where this thread goes.
A 25br would be fun as hell I think.

+1 Love the 06, Roberts and Rob Ackley. I wanted to do a 25 BR for my sons first deer rifle, now leaning towards a 25x47L. 25 Dasher has a nice ring.

25x47L gets ny vote. Wish there was a better bullet selection though!
I agree which is why I was looking for a cartridge with some speed to compensate some for the bullets. I understand accuracy is still accuracy no matter the speed but if the accuracy is there and coupled with the speed it helps.

If you're looking for speed, go with the Weatherby. For a do-all quarter bore, the 25x47 is a no brainer. Plenty of 25 caliber bullets available.

I've been thinkin bout this awhile. Something like a 243 parent case, 31 degree shoulder, necked to 25. 257 competition match. Sounds cool and unique.

I would go 25-284, for a couple of reasons.

1. it would be incredibly simple to just neck 6.5-284 LAPUA brass down .007"
2. it would fit in just about any short action.
